Leica Camera has announced a new version of the M10-P aimed at cinematographers, introducing the Leica M10-P ‘ASC 100 Edition’.

The Leica M10-P ‘ASC 100 Edition’ is comprised of a Leica M10-P camera and a Leica Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH lens.

The M10-P ‘ASC 100 Edition’ was launched to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the American Society of Cinematographers and features two new Cine Look modes.

ASC Cine Classic mode delivers a classic, analog 35mm cinema-style look, while ASC Contemporary mode offers a more modern, digital-style look.

The M10-P ‘ASC 100 Edition’ also lets users choose from different cinematic aspect ratios in the camera menu. Once enabled, the chosen aspect ratio is highlighted in a digital frame on the camera’s LCD.

The Leica M10-P ‘ASC 100 Edition’ also boasts a Leica Visoflex electronic viewfinder and a Leica M-PL-Mount Adapter that allows the use of almost all PL mount cine lenses available on the market.

This limited-edition release is a modern take on Oskar Barnack’s original vision of the “Ur-Leica” prototype camera, Leica says.

No price information was available at the time of writing, but Leica says the M10-P ‘ASC 100 Edition’ will be released in autumn this year.
