Joby has announced the Spin and Swing, two motion control devices for smartphones to enable smooth movement to be made easily during video and timelapse recording.

The Joby Spin is a Bluetooth-connected electronic head that enables 360° motion control for video, timelapse and panoramic creation while the Joby Swing is a Bluetooth-enabled slider for creating smooth linear motion in videos and timelapses.

Both devices are lightweight, easy to transport and compatible with other devices in Joby range.

Joby developed the Spin in partnership with Syrup Lab to enable 360° motion control via the Joby Motion app for iOS or Android smart devices.

The Spin weighs just 130g (0.3lb) and can handle a panning payload up to 750g (1.65lb) or a tilting payload up to 500g (1.1lb).

It is sold by itself for £81.95 or bundled with the Joby GripTight Pro phone mount in the Spin Phone Mount Kit for £90.95. It can also be paired with a GorillaPod or other Joby support.

It’s also possible to pair two Spin units with the Pan Tilt Bracket (£26.95) to create dual axis timelapses, b-roll, and video shots.

The Joby Swing (£118.95) is a slider that doesn’t look like a slider and it works with Apple and Android phones via the Joby Motion app to enables moving timelapse and video creation.

The Joby Swing weighs just 290g (0.63lb) but can handle a payload of up to 600g (1.3lb). It’s also designed to integrate with the Joby ecosystem, making a great partner with the BallHead 1K and GripTight One phone mount which are available together in the Swing Phone Mount Kit for £136.95.

It gives 38cm (15in) of travel distance and mounts via a ¼inch-20 connection to a GorillaPod or RangePod support. It’s also available in the Swing Complete Kit bundle for £164.95 which contains the BallHead 1K, GripTight One phone mount, and GorillaPod 3K Stand.
