The popular Jackery Portable Power Station has taken a step up and is now available as a 2KW version. The Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro Portable Power Station doubles the capacity of the excellent Jackery Explorer 1000 I looked at earlier in the year.

The new power generator can deliver 2.160Wh which is more than enough to keep your lights, camera and computing power running through a day’s shoot, both for video and stills. The new unit features the usual array of AC and DC outputs to ensure that almost any device that you would usually plug into the mains to charge or power will also work perfectly with the Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro.

The capacity of the new power station is of course the big feature of the new unit, but with that additional capacity comes the need for faster-charging solutions. The Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro can be fully charged with 6 of the company’s SolarSaga 200w panels in just under 2.5 hours, sun allowing and that’s impressive. If there’s no sun around and you need power on site then there is the option for a 2 hour through a main’s AC wall outlet. If you get to the morning of the shoot and realise you’ve forgotten to charge the Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro then there’s also the option to charge throught your car or van 12v cigarette lighter socket, just make sure you leave the engine running or you charge as you’re making your way to the location.

Featuring the latest battery technology, the Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro features two chips inside that ensure maximum battery protection and amongst other readings monitor the temperature core detectors to maintain safety. This is especially important when using the battery for prolonged times and under heavy load when on set.

As with the Jackery 1000, the new Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro features an easy-to-read screen that enables you to check the progress of the charge and see the power draw and input. This feature will instantly highlight what items of the kit are the most power-hungry, enabling you to balance what is safe to be left on and which needs to be switched off or unplugged at every opportunity.

While electric power generators are far quieter than conventional diesel or petrol generators, when underloaded, the fans will kick in to help keep things cool. On eth Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro, that sound level is kept to 53DB, so it should be possible to tuck it away from earshot while audible.

One interesting feature is pass-through charging. This enables you to charge both the power station and any devices that are plugged into it at the time. This means that you can be filming while the Jackery 2000 Pro is still connected to the Solar panels topping up.

To ensure peace of mind, the Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro comes with a three-year warranty or five years if purchased through the official Jackery website. For more details, check out The Jackery website for more information on the Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro power station.
