Fujifilm could be planning to develop a new modular version of its mirrorless medium format GFX cameras, according to new drawings of the system.
Fujirumors reported images appearing that show a smallish, modular Fuji GFX camera with a range of ports on all sides.
One could dismiss these as someone’s fanciful drawings had Fujifilm not showed off a prototype looking exactly like this at its X Summit earlier this year.
What’s interesting about a stripped-back, modular GFX camera is that it could give Fujifilm the opportunity to make medium format even cheaper than it already has and compete with Canon, Nikon, Sony and now Panasonic in the full-frame market.
If you could buy a cheaper version of the Fujifilm GFX 100 for about the same price as the Panasonic S1R, Nikon Z7 or Sony A7R IV, which would you buy?
