ION360 has launched a new smartphone case that attaches a 360 camera to your phone and also serves as a charger.

The ION360 U – price tag £299 / $300 – boasts two 7.4-megapixel cameras that are built into the smartphone case, each offering a lens with a 200-degree angle of view.

The ION360 U camera can also shoot video in 4K resolution for 100 minutes, and will live stream your video to Facebook and YouTube. Facebook has even given the ION360 U its Live 360 Ready classification

Inside the ION360 U case is a battery that will power the camera, preventing the case from draining your phone’s battery while taking 360 images and videos. And when you’re not using the ION360 U camera that battery will also recharge your phone.

What’s more, because the case connects the camera directly to your phone there’s no need for a WiFi connection to enable the two to communicate.

The ION360 U is available for both Android and iOS users, however… at the moment it’s only compatible with the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. We expect this compatibility to expand in the near future.
