How to edit DJI Osmo Pocket video on your mobile

//

The DJI Osmo Pocket is a cool little device that combines a 12Mp camera with a stabilising gimbal. Its 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor is capable of generating 4K (3840 x2160) video at up to 60p, however, if you want to edit the video on your phone, you’ll have to opt for 1920 x1080 video. This can be recorded at frame rates of 24/25/30/48/50/60 or 120p.

Once you’ve shot the video clips, you’re ready to transfer them to your phone and start editing. I’ve broken this down to the key steps below.

Transferring Osmo Pocket video to a Phone

If you have the DJI Osmo Pocket Expansion Kit, you can transfer video wirelessly to your phone using the Wireless Module. However, the easiest method is to use the supplied smartphone adapter, here’s how:

  1. Slide off the cover from the accessory port and slide on the appropriate adapter for your phone.
  2. Power-up the Osmo Pocket.
  3. Unlock your phone and connect it to the Osmo Pocket. This should trigger the DJI Mimo app to start, but if it doesn’t, open the app on your phone.
  4. Tap the play icon in the bottom right corner of your phone screen.
  5. Now tap, ‘Video’ at the top of the screen and tap on the videos to decide which ones you want to use.
  6. Tap ‘Select’ in the top right corner of the screen and then tap on all the videos that you want to import before tapping on the download icon on the right of the phone screen. A blue tick will appear in the left corner of each video as it downloads.

Once all your videos have downloaded, you’re ready to start editing. You can do this without the Osmo Pocket being connected – in fact it’s easier if you disconnect it.
