News

GoPro has issued a firmware update for the Hero8 Black enabling your action camera work as a webcam for video conferencing.

The new beta firmware allows users to install GoPro Webcam desktop utility that lets the Hero8 Black function as a 1080p high-definition, wide-angle webcam.

The GoPro Webcam desktop utility is currently only available for Mac OS users, but GoPro says it is currently developing a Windows version.

To set up your GoPro Hero8 Black as a webcam, follow these steps:

  1. Install the new GoPro Webcam firmware on your Hero8 Black
  2. Install the new GoPro Webcam desktop utility on your computer
  3. Plug your Hero8 Black into your computer with a USB-C cable
  4. When you log into Zoom or Skype or whatever video conferencing app you use, go in and choose your GoPro from the list of available cameras.
