Google debuts trio of photo apps

Google has launched a trio of new photo apps aimed at enhancing videos and selfies, the company has announced.

On its research blog Google revealed its Selfissimo, Storyboard and Scrubbies apps.

Storyboard is arguably the most interesting of Google’s new apps and allows you to convert your videos into comic book-style layouts.

Storyboard works by selecting what it determines to be the most interesting frames from your videos and creating a layout based on one of six different styles. Storyboard is currently available for Android users only.

iOS users can download Scrubbies, which lets users create loops of their favourite clips. You can also speed up or slow down the playback speed, even the direction.

“Shoot a video in the app and then remix it by scratching it like a DJ. Scrubbing with one finger plays the video,” Google writes on its blog. “Scrubbing with two fingers captures the playback so you can save or share it.”

Selfissimo! is available for both iOS and Android users and is programmed to detect each time you pose, triggering the shutter button. You simply tap the screen to begin a posing session, and then tap to end.

All of Google’s new ‘Appsperiments’ are free to download from Play and iTunes.
