Gitzo, the widely respected tripod manufacturer, has announced the Légende tripod and backpack for photographers who want gear that will last a lifetime in a bid to end the ‘throwaway culture’.
According to Gitzo, the Légende tripod and camera bag are made from high-quality materials to make them last for generations.
Designed for travel, the tripod has 100% carbon fibre legs with aluminium leg locks. It’s built from 170 parts and is designed to be repaired rather than replaced. All of the parts are replaceable and 70% of them are said to be user-replaceable with the part being shipped at no extra cost.
All of the backpack’s main exterior fabric is recycled polyester and 65% of the bag’s weight is made up of recycled fabrics.
Gitzo has also used ‘Eco Leather’, cruelty-free, environmental-friendly, and non-toxic synthetic leather for the tripod strap and backpack details.
Reassuringly, the Légende tripod and backpack come with an unlimited warranty.
Price and Availability
Available from today through Indiegogo.com, the Légende tripod and backpack will ship in May 2021.
The Légende Tripod is listed as retailing for $799 (£575) but the first 200 can be bought at £374/$519. There are also 100 super-early bird kits that comprise a Légende Tripod, Backpack and Gitzo Mini Traveler for £503/$699.
The Légende Backpack is set to retail for £165/$229 but that are 200 available at £129/$179.
