Fujifilm has announced the Fujinon XF16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR 5x zoom lens, price tag £769, with a release date set for September 2019.
Designed for use with Fujifilm’s X series cameras, the new lightweight and compact XF16-80mm f/4 weighs just 440g and measures just 88.9mm in length.
If attached to a Fuji X-T3, for instance, the entire kit will weigh just 979g. Or just 823g with a Fuji X-T30.
The new Fuji lens maintains a constant f/4 aperture throughout the focal length (equivalent to 24-13mm in 35mm format). Its minimum shooting distance is also 35cm across the entire focal range, providing a 0.25x maximum shooting magnification.
The Fujinon XF16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR has an optical construction that consists of 16 elements in 12 groups, which includes three aspherical lens elements and one ED aspherical lens to keep aberrations and curvature at bay.
A stepping motor in the AF system promises quiet focusing of the elements, and the XF16-80mm f/4 OIS offers correction of up to 6 stops.
