A new firmware update enables the Fujifilm GFX100 to use pixel shift technology to capture images at up to 400-megapixel resolution.
Firmware version 3.00 for the Fujifilm GFX100 adds a new Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function that allows photographers to create images with up to 400 megapixels of resolution.
The new function works by capturing up to 16 raw images, moving the image sensor by 0.5 pixels each time to record high-resolution RGB pixel information.
Released with the new firmware is a software application called Fujifilm Pixel Shift Combiner va which you can combine your 16 raw images into a single 400MP image.
These images cant then be outputted as a DNG RAW file from Pixel Shift Combiner for further processing in other compatible editing software.
The new Fujifilm GFX100 firmware is available to download now.
