Fujifilm will bring back its black and white film, Neopan 100 Acros II, this autumn the company has announced.

Neopan 100 Acros II will be available in both 35mm and 120 medium format options. Fuifilm will re-release it to the Japanese market first, then roll it out internationally.

The announcement comes just over a year since Fujifilm officially killed off its last black and white film and paper products. Renewed interest, however, has motivated the company to back pedal on that decision (at least for Neopan 100 Acros II).

“As the demand for film rapidly decreased over the past decade and raw materials became difficult to obtain, it caused the company to discontinue marketing black and white film,” Fujifilm says. “Thanks to consumer feedback, particularly from millennials and GenZs, who have become the new film enthusiasts, the market is changing once again.

“To meet the needs of this new market, Fujifilm is reviving ‘ACROS II’.”

The company says Neopan 100 Acros II will feature finer grain, sharpness and better three-dimensional gradation compared to the original Neopan 100 Acros film.
