Fujifilm has announced the Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR wide-angle zoom lens, which it plans to release in November 2018.

The new XF lens is designed for use with Fuji’s X Series cameras, and the Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR lens provides an equivalent focal length of 12-24mm. It also boasts a constant f/2.8 aperture.

The Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR lens is constructed of 20 elements in 13 groups, which includes four aspherical lens elements to control distortion and aberrations. There are also six ED and three super ED elements that are designed to keep lateral chromatic aberrations at bay.

Fuifilm says it has also developed a correction element feature with the Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR lens that corrects the curvature distortion often seen in architecture shot with wide-angle lenses.

A double Nano-GI coating on the front two lens elements helps eliminate ghosting and flare, and the Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR lens promises quiet AF thanks to linear motors.

The Fujinon XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR lens barrel is made of magnesium alloy and weighs just 805g. It’s also weather sealed in 11 places and resistant to moisture, dust and temperatures down to -10C.
