Fujifilm will release a firmware update version 2.0 for the X-T20 in April 2018, which will add faster AF tracking and enhanced touchscreen operation to match the Fuji X-E3.

We reported last year that the X-T20 would be getting new features via firmware in early 2018, and Fujifilm used today’s launch of the Fuji X-H1 as a platform to reveal what those will be.

Chief among the enhancements is that Fuji X-T20’s new AF tracking algorithm that will be introduced in firmware version 2.0 promises to make the camera’s AF-C mode track subjects twice as fast as before, Fujifilm says.

What’s more, the X-T20 will also be able to capture subjects that are 50% smaller than before.

A new enhanced touchscreen brings the X-T20 in line with the recently launched X-E3, adding the latter camera’s gesture control. Among the new touchscreen features on the X-T20 are:

  • The AutoFocus area can be moved when in focus zoom with flick operation.
  • Pinch-in/out operation in playback mode will be updated to go from full-frame playback to multi-frame playback (Nine-frame view and Hundred-frame view)
  • Select the frame in multi-frame playback with tap or drag operation or return to full-frame playback by double-tapping
  • Q (Quick) menu selection in Q menu
  • Input character with touch key-board

The Fuji X-T20 firmware update 2.0 will also add support for the camera to Fujifilm’s X RAW STUDIO software, and also adds compatibility with the newly launched Fujinon XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS PZ lens.
