Fuji has launched the Fujinon XF80mm f/2.8 LM OIS WR Macro, the first 1.0x magnification mid-telephoto lens for its X Series cameras.

Priced at £1,249 with a release date in November 2017, the Fuji XF80mm f/2.8 LM OIS WR Macro offers a focal length equivalent to 122mm and a maximum aperture of f/2.8.

The Fuji XF80mm f/2.8 LM OIS WR Macro optical construction consists of 16 elements in 12 groups, employing one aspherical lens, one Super ED lens and three ED lenses.

It also incorporates a Floating Focus System which Fuji says allows users to capture high-quality macro shots from far away. This system divides the focus lens group into Front Focus and Rear Focus groups and drives them depending on the shooting distance.

A newly developed Ball Slide System controls lens movement by arranging ceramic balls along the guide rail. This system makes it possible to achieve high image quality from the center to the edge, Fuji says, by suppressing any inclination of the two focus lens groups and keep its clearance with high accuracy.

The focus lens groups move within the lens barrel meaning that the length of the lens does not change.

An Optical Image Stabilizer system helps protect against shake. Fuji says it has suppressed angle shake and shift shake by using a gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor with high accuracy, which achieves 5-stop image stabilization.

The new Fuji XF lens is also resistant to weather and dust and can operate in temperatures as low as -10C.

Fuji has also updated its lens roadmap, revealing that it next plans to add Ultra Wide Angle Zoom and Telephoto Prime lenses to the system.
