Freefly Systems has announced the Movi, a new gimbal it has dubbed ‘a cinema robot for mobile phones’ that allows users to create stabilised video.

The Movi promises the same stabilisation technology as found in Freefly’s professional rigs, the company says, and it can accommodate phones of any size.

A companion app – available for iOS, but not yet Android – comes equipped with different shooting modes for the Movi, such as Timelapse, Orbit and Echo, and phones connect to the gimbal via Bluetooth.

Freefly says the Movi’s battery life lasts up to eight hours, and it also boasts a 1/4-inch mount for tripods and selfie sticks.

You can read more about the full specs over at Heliguy, where you can also pre-order the gimbal.

The Freefly Movi price tag is £279, and will be released in Q2 2018.
