Facebook testing 4K video

What is 4K video shooting (and why it matters for stills photographers)

Facebook is rolling out 4K video capability with a select group of users, the social network has confirmed.

Facebook currently offers 1080p video but has been facing pressure to up its game as it tries to be taken more seriously as a video platform.

TechCrunch, however, reports that Facebook has confirmed that it is now testing 4K video uploads and viewing capability with some pages and profiles using the 2160p UHD-1 Ultra-High-Definition Television standard.

The move has been widely expected, as Facebook has made moves to push more original video content. The social network recently launched a Watch tab where content creators can post original videos, and over the summer it launched 4K support for Live 360 videos.

It’s not clear when Facebook’s 4K video capabilities will become available to all users.
