DJI has launched a new Smart Controller with a built-in display that allows pilots to fly the company’s Mavic drones without having to use a smartphone or tablet.

DJI’s new Smart Controller boasts a 5.5-inch ultra-bright screen with an output of 1000 cd/m2, twice the brightness of standard smart phones.

The Smart Controller pairs with DJI’s latest drones using DJI’s OcuSync 2.0 video transmission system, providing Full HD footage of your flight.

The Smart Controller’s Android dashboard is customisable and supports both the DJI Go 4 and DJI Pilot apps, as well as third-party applications.

DJI has also update its Go 4 app to include a new SkyTalk feature that allows pilots to livestream the drone’s camera feed to social media. There’s also a new GO-SHare feature that transfers your images from the Controller to your smart device.

DJI’s new Smart Controller promises 2.5 hours of battery life, and is priced at £579.
