After days of rumours across social media, DJI has officially revealed the Osmo Pocket price, specs and release date in what looks like it could pose a serious challenge to the GoPro Hero range.

When the original DJI Osmo arrived it was groundbreaking, offering fully stabilised pro level footage in what was then a compact form.

Now the DJI Osmo Pocket has been announced and again sees the technology innovator produce a groundbreaking product with appeal to all video makers from amateur to professional.

The compact camera and stabiliser combo is just 4-inches high and offers full 3-axis stabilisation.

The image capture is all handled by the integrated camera that features a 1/2.3-inch sensor capable of 12-megapixel stills and 4k video at up to 60fps and at 100Mbps.

Dual built-in mics enable advanced noise cancelling that will enable you to capture high-quality audio to match your footage.

Built into the OSMO pocket is a powerful battery that offers up to two hours of 4k video shooting at 30fps.

DJI are the leaders in compact stabilisation systems and the OSMO Pocket pulls on this experience offering a state of the art three-axis mechanical gimbal.

On the back of the camera is a 1-inch integrated touch screen that provides live view as well as the ability to quickly swipe through various shooting modes, settings, footage and creative features that include:

ActiveTrack – If you’ve used other DJI products then you’ll know what this is all about. ActiveTrack enables you to recognize and follow subjects with the tap of your finger.

FaceTrack – Taking active track one step further FaceTrack automatically recognises human faces and can then adjust the gimbal to keep the face in the centre at all times.

Timelapse & Motionlapse – Both of these modes enable creative time lapse options. Timelapse enables you to capture the passing of time at speed, while motion lapse adds a dynamic element of camera movement.

FPV Mode – Popularised by drones this mode releases the gimbal and enables the camera to follow your every tilt and lean that will capture footage as you experience it.

3×3 & 180° Panorama – Ideal for capturing wide-angled panoramic shots. Just set it up press go and watch it capture and stitch a large scale image automatically.

Where the likes of the previous OSMO models the new Pocket is equally smart with a full-featured app then enables complete control and greater functionality.

Under the touchscreen is a universal port that enables you to connect to your mobile device through iOS Lightning or USB-C.

The new DJI Mimo app will automatically open and enable you to use your mobile as a larger monitor as well as giving you access to all the menu options.

The app also features new innovative features such as Story Mode. This enables you to edit your video with a host of preset effects and music.

Along with the OSMO Pocket, there will be a host of accessories, these include; Accessory Mount, Wireless Module, Controller Wheel, Expansion Kit, ND Filters Set, Waterproof Case, Extension Rod, Charging Case and 3.5mm Adapter.
