DJI Osmo Pocket Mic Adapter released March 28; livestreaming a possibility
News

DJI’s new 3.5mm Mic Adapter for the Osmo Pocket will be released to the public on 28 March, according to retailer websites. Also, DJI might consider adding livestreaming to the Osmo Pocket via a future firmware update; however, the company has made no decisions.

Park Cameras in the UK is listing the Osmo Pocket Mic Adapter as available for pre-order from its website.

Though no formal announcement appears to have been made, we spoke to a representative from DJI earlier this year who confirmed that the mic adapter would be released in Q2 2019.

This weekend at The Photography Show in Birmingham, UK, we spoke to another DJI representative who said that the Osmo Pocket Mic Adapter is now in pre-production, and a release is imminent.

What’s more, the DJI rep told us that of all of the company’s products at the Show, the Osmo Pocket has had the most interest by far.

Livestreaming with the DJI Osmo Pocket

We also asked DJI’s rep whether livestreaming with the Osmo Pocket will eventually be a possibility via a firmware update. The rep said that this has been one of the common questions about the Pocket, and it’s currently up in the air.

The DJI staffer told us that the company is considering whether to add this at a later date, but no decision has been made.

We suspect that DJI may be waiting to see how sales of the Osmo Pocket affect the Osmo Mobile 2 before reaching a decision. What’s more, it will probably come down to whether livestreaming is a necessity vs a ‘nice to have’ feature.
