DJI has announced new handheld camera stabilisers at CES, introducing the Osmo Mobile 2 and Ronin-S.

Both new stabilisers are aimed at professional videographers and photographers, DJI says, promising steadier video footage.

DJI Ronin-S

The DJI Ronin-S is the company’s first single-handed stabiliser for DSLR and mirrorless cameras, and comes with dedicated buttons allowing users to control key camera settings.

The three-axis Ronin-S also boasts a range of advanced shooting modes, such as Push mode, which lets you adjust the pan and tilt axis by hand when the Ronin-S is powered on.

A new Sport mode allows users to make fast movements with tight and quick subject following speed. Other shooting modes include Panorama, Hyperlapse, Track and CamAnchor, which allows you to designate specific camera positions in a scene and rotate between them on demand.

Inside the DJI Ronin-S are high-torque motors that DJI says support the most popular camera and lens combinations, including the Canon EOS 5D, Panasonic GH and Sony Alpha systems.

The Ronin-S also compensates for zoom lenses with higher magnification ratios and an external zooming barrel. DJI says its advanced stabilisation algorithms also work with both in-camera and with in-lens optical stabilisation technology.

Design-wise, the DJI Ronin-S battery can be ‘hot-swapped’ during shoots, and it’s also compatible with DJI Pro Accessories, such as the Focus Control Center, DJI Master Force, DJI Master Wheels, and more.

DJI Ronin-S Price & Release Date

The DJI Ronin-S price tag wasn’t available at the time of writing. DJI says the Ronin-S release date will be sometime in the second quarter of 2018, which price information announced prior to its availability.

DJI Osmo Mobile 2

The second iteration of DJI’s handheld smartphone camera stabiliser boasts a redesign with simpler controls and a longer battery life.

The Osmo Mobile 2 built-in battery system now lets users film for up to 15 hours, or three times longer than the original Osmo Mobile.

A new USB port allows you to charge your phone during use and also doubles as a power bank for charging your other electronic devices.

DJI says it has streamlined the controls on the Osmo Mobile 2 with integrated settings for ISO, shutter speed and other key camera settings. A new zoom slider also lets you operate your phone from the handle. It also enables you to produce a dolly zoom effect.

The three-axis Osmo Mobile 2 features DJI’s SmoothTrack technology and is constructed from high-strength modified nylon, with a foldable design for more portability.

A two-way mobile clamp enables you to pivot between landscape and portrait format, and a 1/4in screw mount allows you to mount the Osmo Mobile 2 to another accessory.

DJI Osmo Mobile 2 Price & Release Date

The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 price tag will be £139 and is available to pre-order exclusively from Apple.com on 23 January. From early February the Osmo Mobile 2 will be available from DJI’s web and flagship stores, as well as authorised retailers.

I’ll probably get the OSMO 2. I’ve got the 1 and it’s awesome, super smooth. I’m looking forward to the longer batter life.
