What can a GoPro Hero do that other cameras can’t?

GoPro Hero 4GoPro has taken the world by storm, a small unassuming camera that can be attached anywhere and enables you to capture video footage from a point of view (POV) that would otherwise have been impossible. These cameras have been made famous by extraordinary feats from the likes of Matthias Giraud who has managed to capture the action of his incredible base jumps.

GoPro cameras have bought something new to the table, especially as compact cameras have been supersede by mobile phones and are quickly becoming the peoples choice for images capture.

GoPro and other action cameras bring something all together different, they’re designed to capture video not stills (Although the majority can capture the odd still if needed), and they’re built tough, they’re easy to use and can be mounted almost anywhere.

You might think that action cameras are aimed at action sports enthusiasts, and as you probably have no intention of base jumping off a mountain top or free riding the streets of Rio this means that the GoPro Hero and other action cameras are off limits to you.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Action cameras are tough and used by those without fear, but they’re also an excellent choice for anyone just wanting a decent device to capture a few images and video. They have a huge advantage over compacts as in they’re smaller and can be thrown in a bag without you having to worry about damaging them.

They’re also lots of fun for the family, and the tough design means that you shouldn’t fear throwing them around a bit. Mobile phone’s might be able to capture video and action cameras can be used without fear by the entire family as there is no problem if the camera is dropped or soaked, and most importantly you can still film at full HD or even 4K without having to worry about your phone’s storage running out.

What ever the action that is going on, however mild, there still plenty of cool stuff that you’ll find to capture. In this series I’ll show you how to make the most of your GoPro action camera, showing you tips and tricks that will enable you to capture your own action packed footage even if you’re just out for a gentle weekend ride.
