Dating from the 1930’s in Japan, Canon is a one of the main pillars of photographic manufacturing and it remains the market leader for interchangeable lens cameras. It offers a comprehensive range of digital cameras from simple point-and-shoot compact models to fully specified professional-level SLRs and an extensive range of lenses and camera accessories. Canon’s current DSLR range uses the EF (full-frame) and EF-S (APS-C) lens mounts with the former dating from March 1987. In July 2012 Canon announced its first mirrorless system camera, the Canon EOS M, which also debuted a new lens mount called EF-M. While Canon was relatively slow to the mirrorless market it has been swift to embrace technology such as touch-control and wireless connectivity.
