Canon has announced a new L-series RF telephoto zoom lens, introducing the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM, price tag £2,899.99 / €3,399.99.
Aimed at sports and wildlife photographers, the new Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM is comprised of one Super UD lens and six UD lenses to keep ghosting, flare and chromatic aberrations at bay.
The new Canon RF lens boasts 5-stop Image Stabilization, or six stops when used with the Canon EOS R5 or EOS R6 also announced today.
A Dual Nano USM AF motor promises fast and quiet AF, while a new floating focusing system allows you to focus as close as 0.9m.
Like other RF lenses, the new Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM offers a programmable Lens Control Ring along the barrel via which you can change camera settings.
Meanwhile, an adjustable torque zoom ring allows you to make your zooming tighter or looser.
The RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM is also weather sealed like other Canon L lenses.
A release date hasn’t been announced as yet, but the Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM price will be £2,899.99 / €3,399.99.
