Canon has announced the PowerShot V1, a compact digital camera designed for both photography and video creation. With its 1.4-inch CMOS sensor, optical zoom lens, and advanced autofocus system, the PowerShot V1 is positioned as an all-in-one tool for content creators who need high-quality imaging in a small and lightweight form factor.

The PowerShot V1 features a 22.3MP sensor for still images and an 18.7MP output when recording video. The built-in zoom lens provides a focal length equivalent to approximately 17-52mm for video and 16-50mm for still photography, making it suitable for a variety of shooting scenarios. The fast f/2.8-4.5 aperture range ensures strong low-light performance and background separation.

For videographers, the camera supports 4K video at up to 60fps with a crop or 4K 30fps using 5.7K oversampling. Canon Log 3 and 4:2:2 10-bit recording provide professional-level colour grading flexibility. The inclusion of a built-in cooling fan allows for extended recording times, with no overheating limitations in certain modes. An integrated ND filter (three stops) further enhances video capabilities, helping to manage exposure in bright conditions.

Autofocus is powered by Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, which delivers fast and accurate subject tracking. The PowerShot V1 also includes advanced stabilisation with optical image stabilisation (IS) combined with electronic IS for smooth handheld shooting. A “Subject Tracking IS” mode recognises and stabilises the main subject in the frame.

Additional features include a fully articulating 3.0-inch touchscreen, a built-in microphone windscreen, a 3.5mm mic input, a headphone jack, and USB-C connectivity for direct streaming or tethered shooting. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, enabling easy sharing and remote control via the Canon Camera Connect app.

With its combination of high-quality video, flexible photography options, and a compact design, the Canon PowerShot V1 is set to appeal to vloggers, travel photographers, and hybrid content creators looking for a versatile yet portable camera.
