Canon EOS M100: price, release date specs revealed

Canon has debuted a new entry-level mirrorless camera, introducing the 24.2-megapixel Canon EOS M100, price tag starting from €569.99/£449.99 with a release date of October 2017.

Aimed at photographers making the jump from camera phones, the Canon EOS M100 boasts a touchscreen with similar pinch-and-zoom and swipe controls as you experience on a smartphone, as well as built-in Bluetooth and WiFi capability for sharing your images as you take them.

What’s more, the EOS M100’s touchscreen offers a series of guided on-screen instructions to help new photographers get to grips with the camera’s different shooting modes.

We saw something similar with the Canon EOS 200D / Rebel SL2 launched earlier this summer, which has proved really popular.

Other features of the EOS M100 include Canon’s DIGIC 7 processing engine and a continuous shooting rate of 6.1fps. It also records video in Full HD at 60p.

The Canon EOS M100’s AF system offers 49 points and is sensitive down to -1 EV, and the new Canon camera offers a native sensitivity range from ISO 100 up to 25,600.

The Canon EOS M100 sits below the EOS M3 in Canon’s M range of mirrorless cameras.
