Cactus has launched the RQ250, a new wireless monolight that fits in the palm of your hand yet promises the power of a studio head.

The Cactus RQ250 is a 250Ws, Li-ion-powered TTL wireless monolight that packs an output equal to 3.5 speedlights and offers a recycle time of just 1.1 seconds.

It can also fire 520 full-power flashes on a single charge. There’s also a 10-stop power range from 1/512 to 1/1.

Other features include a magnetic rim for switching quickly between different modifiers. The RQ250 measures 194mm x 80mm x 80mm and weighs 1235g when connected to the battery, reflector and tube.

The Hong Kong-based lighting manufacturer just launched the RQ250 on Kickstarter, where you can get the Cactus RQ250 for a price tag of £430 / $550. Otherwise it will be priced $699 on its official launch.
