Just a day after its image was inadvertantly leaked in an advertising banner, Blackmagic has officially launched its new 4K pocket cinema camera in Micro Four Thirds mount, priced $1,295 – making it the cheapest 4K Raw camera on the market.

The new Blackmagic pocket cinema camera can internally record 4K HDR RAW at 4,096 x 2,160 and 60 fps in 12-bit RAW or 10-bit ProRes. It can also record Full HD video at up to 120fps.

The Blackmagic 4K pocket cinema camera also offers external raw recording, 13 stops of dynamic range, dual native ISO of up to 25,600 and a 5-inch touchscreen.

Blackmagic says the body of its new 4K pocket cinema camera is made of carbon fibre, making it lighter to carry, and there are dedicated buttons for controlling the shutter, aperture, ISO and white balance.

Images are recorded onto standard SD/UHS-II or CFast 2.0 memory cards, and the Blackmagic 4K pocket cinema camera offers four built-in microphones, mini XLR input, full sized HDMI, 3D LUT support, Bluetooth wireless control and a USB-C Expansion Port.

The Blackmagic 4K pocket cinema camera’s release date will be later in 2018, the company says.
