The Blackmagic 4K Pocket Cinema camera will be released and begin shipping from 3 September 2018, according to updated product listings on retailer websites.

Both B&H Photo Video and Adorama are listing the Micro Four Thirds-mount camera as being available from 3 September.

As well as a Micro Four Thirds mount and 4/3 sensor, the Blackmagic 4K Pocket Cinema camera can record DCI 4K 4096 x 2160 up to 60fps, and offers Dual native ISO up to 25,600.

It also offers a 5-inch touchscreen display, dual card slots (CFast 2.0 & SD/UHS-II), a 13-stop dynamic range and 3D LUT support.

You can also record HD at up to 120fps. Other features include four built-in microphones, mini XLR input, full sized HDMI, 3D LUT support, Bluetooth wireless control and a USB-C Expansion Port.

UPDATE: Blackmagic 4K Pocket Cinema camera release date is not 3 September

While Adorama and B&H Photo Video have said they expect availability of the Blackmagic 4K Pocket Cinema camera on 3 September, that is not in fact the camera’s release date.

A representative from Blackmagic has been in touch to say that while the camera will indeed be launched in September, the company has yet to confirm an exact date.

“We’ve asked that both dealers amend to state September only,” according to the rep.
