Benro has announced a new range of lightweight, compact travel tripods, introducing the Benro Slim, price tag £120 for the carbon fibre option and £80 for an aluminium version.

Designed for use with DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, both Benro Slim kits feature a removable ball head with an Arca-style quick release plate.

The carbon fibre version weighs just 1.01kg and can withstand a payload of 4kg, while the aluminium Benro Slim weighs 1.2kg and can handle the same 4kg.

In fact, apart from their weight – and price – both Benro Slim versions feature identical specifications. Each has three leg sections, and legs can be adjusted for awkward angles on uneven terrain.

Twist locks on the leg sections only require a half turn to open. This enabled me in my tests of the Benro Slim carbon fibre version to set up the tripod in under 30 seconds.

The Benro Slim’s maximum height – without the centre column – is 122cm, while its max height with the centre column extended stretches to 146cm. Its minimum height is 40cm, and when folded both tripods measure 51cm in length.

The Benro Slim carbon fibre price tag is £120, while the Slim aluminium price is just £80.

Both versions of the Slim will be released this month.
