Atomos has launched the Shinobi, a new 5-inch, Full HD HDMI monitor priced at $399.

Aimed at vloggers and photographers, the Atomos Shinobi weighs just 200g and offers 1920 x 1080 resolution in the same HDR display as the company’s Ninja V monitor, with up to 10 stops of dynamic range when used with Log or HLG HDR video.

What’s more, up to eight LUTs can be loaded onto the Shinobi via its built-in memory, or there’s an SD card slot where you can install more.

The Shinobi is also colour calibrated in the factory, but includes Atomos’s free calibration software.

The Shinobi also uses the same colour processing technology as the Ninja V, and it features Atomos’s touchscreen interface and other tools such as histogram, zebras, focus peaking, guides and more.

There’s also a headphone on the side for external recording, and for vloggers there is a mirror mode that allows you to position the monitor backwards on your device.

Battery life is six hours, and though the display offers HD support Atomos says the Shinobi’s HDMI port can actually take signals at up to 4K at 30fps.
