AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K action camera Announced

News

The EK7000 Pro 4K is a budget action camera with high-resolution 4K video at less than £100.

Priced at £76.99/$74.99 the specifications instantly grab your attention with 4K video at 25fps and 1080p at 60fps. The 4K framerate should be enough for some decent scene setting, at least in bright conditions, while 1080p is ideal for capturing the action.

Alongside video, the camera will also capture stills at 16mp.

At this price, it’s good to see that the camera features electronic image stabilisation. Hopefully, we’ll get to see a review sample soon and will be able to show you how well this works.

One aspect that instantly stands out for a camera in this price range is the ability to change the viewing angle with a choice of super wide, wide, medium and narrow.

The camera’s design is of the classic GoPro, with the camera contained within a waterproof housing. This housing will protect the camera for dives up to 40m in depth.

A nice feature here is that for anyone wanting to use the camera underwater it has the ability to activate a Dive Mode. This mode will compensate for the lack of red light and ensure that colour and tone is balanced correctly.

A feature that is becoming increasingly popular is the dual use of the camera, and as well as capturing all the action out on trial it can also be used as a dash cam.

A surprising addition is the 2-inch touch screen with IPS display, not something I’d usually expect to see at this price point.

Inside the box, there’s plenty of extras to get you started including a wireless remote. It also features WiFi and uses the iSmart DV app that we’ve seen utilised by other action camera manufacturers.

In the box alongside the camera are a host of mounts and accessories including; bicycle, seven mounts, a helmet mount and a clip, two batteries with a 90min life span each.

I’ll bring you more details and a full review soon.
