AKASO Brave 7 LE set to challenge GoPro

AKASO Brave 7 LE
News

When GoPro updated their compact action camera design back in 2015, the rest of the field was left well behind. Fast forward to today and there are still few other cameras that can come close to the Hero 8.

OK, so there is the DJI OSMO Action which does come close, but really that was it until now. AKASO has launched the Brave 7 LE which looks set to be a viable alternative and with a price of $139 it’s a darn sight cheaper.

We haven’t seen the full specifications of the camera as yet, but what we do know is that this camera is definitely one to watch.

First up, and following both the GoPro and DJI the new AKASO Action camera looks set to shed the waterproof housing. We can’t confirm this quite yet, but from the shots we’ve seen, we’re pretty confident that this is a next-generation camera.

Like the OSMO Action the Brave 7 LE will feature dual screens, one front and one rear. This will make it an ideal option for vloggers so they can see what they’re filming when in front of the camera.

When it comes to water resistance the camera is rated at IPX7, this means that it can be submerged in water up to 1 meter in-depth for half an hour or so. Not quite GoPro standards but still more than most.

When it comes to framerates and resolutions the Brave 7 LE will shoot 4K at 30fps and features EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation).

From the shots, we’ve seen the camera certainly looks impressive, and while it doesn’t quite match the specifications of the GoPro Hero 8 Black or DJI Osmo Action it does look like it would be a good and cheaper alternative.

We’ll be getting a review sample of the AKASO Brave 7 LE in soon and will update you with the full review and sample footage soon.
