Adobe Lightroom Downloader app stores cloud content on your hard drive

Lightroom Tips: 05 Save frequent actions as Presets

Adobe has launched the Lightroom Downloader app, which will download your still images and video from the cloud and sync them to your local hard drive.

Available for both Mac and PC (High Sierra and Windows 10, respectively), the Lightroom Downloader app works in conjunction with your Lightroom account and aims to streamline your workflow.

The app allows you to edit an image across numerous devices and locations.

After logging in to your Lightroom account you then have the option to download your entire Lightroom library. These files then download in their original form, and your edits to date are downloaded in separate XMP files.

When you then import these files into Lightroom on your desktop computer, the original files will open with their corresponding XMP files, continuing the non-destructive editing process on which Lightroom made its name.

It’s worth nothing that original files can only be downloaded if you’re using Lightroom CC; users of Lightroom Classic will find that only Smart Previews are saved to Adobe’s cloud.

The Lightroom Downloader app is free and available to download now.
