ADATA Technology has launched a new rugged external hard drive that offers military-grade shock resistance, introducing the ADATA HD710 Pro.

The HD710 Pro is an update to original HD710 and adds dust- and water-proofing and exceeds IEC IP68 requirements, being completely dust-tight and able to withstand up to 60-minute submersion in 2 meters of water, the company says.

ADATA says it also passes MIL-STD 810G 516.6 requirements, surviving shocks and impacts associated with drops from up to 1.5 meters.

The HD710 Pro employs a G-Shock sensor technology that stops and restarts drive activity when shocks or vibrations are detected to prevent data corruption.

The ADATA HD710 Pro is compatible with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS systems and is available in red, yellow and blue in 1TB and 2TB options. The black model is available in 3TB and 4Tb capacities.

The ADATA HD710 Pro price tag is £59.90 for the 1TB option, rising to £93.90 for 2TB and £129.90 and £154.90 for the 3TB and 4TB models, respectively.
