Sony has launched a new 18-110 Super 35mm / APS-C-format lens aimed at 4K videographers.
The new Sony E PZ 18-110mm F4 G OSS (SELP18110G) offers a 6.1x high zoom ratio a constant f/4 aperture throughout the zoom range and an equivalent focal length of 27-165mm in 35mm format.
The new Sony lens is compatible with Sony’s A mount system cameras, which includes models such as the a6300 and Sony’s popular range of A7 cameras.
The Sony 18-110mm lens consists of 18 elements in 15 groups, which includes six aspherical elements and three Extra-low Dispersion glass elements. It also boasts a 7-blade aperture design.

The Sony 18-110mm f/4 also employs Sony’s Smooth Motion Optics construction to help minimise unwanted focus and image shifts when zooming in on a subject during filming.
Sony says its SMO technology helps resolve three of the most problematic aspects of video quality: Focus Breathing, where shifts in angle of view during focusing are minimised by an internal focus mechanism. Focus shift, where small shifts in focus that can occur whilst zooming, are eliminated by precise focus tracking adjustment and Axial shift, where axial image shifts whilst zooming, are minimised by a constant length design.
The Sony E PZ 18-110mm F4 G OSS (SELP18110G) price tag will be €4000, with a release date set for December 2016.
